Maintenance Art

– I felt like I was doing something good, as if I was contributing on giving back to the community.

– By  Mierle Laderman Ukeles cleaning the steps of an art museum it illustrated that anything in this world can be art, and should be respected as it deserves because they both are art in there own unique way.

– I feel that her cleaning the steps is not art but what she was cleaning is art. Since it was at an art museum I feel like the context of the situation was broaden since a few feet from her lays art. In the context that if she was a janitor, I feel as if the situation would look normal to the average eye. The act that makes something art is when the ‘art’ is expressed with emotion.

– An object or an act can be art that is expressed with some type of emotion. In some degree all paintings on canvases are art in their own way. Painting an house is art but since we are so accustomed to see houses everyday many of us do not appreciate it as art. A painting on a canvas can indeed always be art, people have different way of expressing their emotions on canvas. Also painting a house can be art based on the viewpoint you perceive it.

– From watching the Jennifer Lopez video, i feel as if the term ‘women’s work’ if a way to dehumanize women because anyone can do anything and if you categorize something like ‘women’s work’ you are illustrating that they have a set degree on what they are capable of doing but in reality they can accomplish anything the same as in ‘mens work.’

– The star i would clean is Kobe Bryants star, I have to much respect and admiration for him that if I saw that his star was in anyway dirty, I would take the liberty of cleaning it. He has done so much for not only the city if Angels but also around the world that it would be an honor to clean it, also in a way it will be a way to show my appreciation towards him.
